Erotic Film’s Big Night in Vegas
Every year since 1984 the adult entertainment world has been taking a day off from the sweltering Hollywood movie sets and flocking to Las Vegas, Nevada, to be honored on a very special night for the films they create. The Vegas Adult Awards were started to award the actors, actresses, and the crew behind the cameras in the adult entertainment industry. Their goal is to pay homage to the industry’s pledge of erotic artistry and free spirit. The Las Vegas Adult Show is supported and sponsored by Adult Video News which was started in Chatsworth, California.
The 2008 AVN awards show was a landmark for the ceremonies, since they were observing their 25th anniversary. The wildly popular Vivid Entertainment Group received the most awards in 2008, where they were honored with numerous awards in a range of different categories including Best Film and Best Director.
One would think that the only people you would notice at this event are busty blondes and toned guys, you would have thought wrong. You are very likely to find porn actors mingling with some very famous Hollywood mainstream personalities at the Las Vegas Adult Show ceremony. Some unlikely individuals who have been caught or even handed out awards in past events include Dustin Diamond, Christina Aguilera, Criss Angel, Carrot Top, Sean Penn, Eddie Van Halen and Dave Navarro among others. Even rappers are involved in the porn industry these days; some people say that Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent have been investing in adult films for some time now.
The 2009 Vegas Adult Awards will feature over 100 categories with everything from best actor to best packaging and all other categories connected to erotic movies you can imagine. The awards presented to the winners are called “Woody’s” and the recipients of a Woody are determined by industry colleagues and other experts and critics of the erotic film business. Nominees for the AVN Vegas are required to have movies available for purchase in at least 100 video stores, and the film should have been released before the 30th of September of the previous year. The 2009 AVN Awards Show is going to be held on Saturday, January 10th in the Mandalay Bay Hotel Casino in Vegas.
